HISTORICAL INFORMATION
on S. P. BOWLES: The only information I could find was on a
CHARLES S. P. BOWLES who was a delegate to England from the U.S. Sanitary Commission in 1864.
IMPORTANT: The letterhead lists that
W. B. BOWLES
was the proprietor of the Uvalde Hotel.
SOME HISTORY ON W. B. BOWLES:
WILLIAM B. ( called DOKE ) BOWLES a
famous*IndianFighter*born
1834, moved to Uvalde County in 1854 and there married Miss Amanda Ware in 1858. His exploits are preserved in Texas border history. Was a man of energy and accumulated considerable wealth, one of his properties consisting of the large Uvalde Hotel surrounded by 200 acres of irrigated land. He died December 7, 1902 in Pueblo, New Mexico.
CONDITION:
Normal letter folds, 4 file holes at top, but in decent condition.
The little "EBAY ITEM" tag is just a loose piece of paper that is not attached to the letterhead.
