    Description

One of the most fabled and famous places that formed the soul of the La Belle Epoque in Europe was the Folies Bergere in Paris.
Offering this program from the April 13, 1896 performance at this theater, which as three panels with the program in the middle interior one (which details the likes of musicians, singer trios, dancers, musical numbers, comedians, and of course, the dancers that instantly come to mind performing the high kicks synonymous with the indulgence of this era.)
The color artwork is actually three different illustrations signed by Lucien Lefevre, one of the artists who helped create the lasting exuberance of color and form in the pre-turn-of-the-century era that started in Europe, known as La Belle Epoque.  (Lefevre studied under the great Jules Cheret, whose posters are as memorable as those of his contemporary Toulouse Latrec.)
Lefèvre was a student of Jules Chéret, whose outstanding poster art lent much to the atmosphere of Belle Époque Paris. Lefevre was a highly regarded poster artist in his own right.  You may be more familiar with Lefevre's advertising artwork produced for Lefevre Utile biscuits, such as the famous Cacao Lacte poster with the little boy and dog.  (I was not able to determine if the artist was part of the family that owned Lefevre Utile.)
The interior and back of the program are filled with small ads for local businesses.  The inside is black and white.  The center panel is the full program for the Folies.
Printed by Imprimerie Chaix, 20 Rue Bergere, Paris.
From the collection (estate) of a well-known entertainment memorabilia collector in Chicago, and has been in storage 3+ decades.
    Size:  about 5 x 10-1/4 inches (folded).
Condition:  Very good condition, but fragile.  Top corner fold and one panel the top corner is missing.  The folds are partially detached, and a prior owner must have wanted to keep it secure by adding "magic tape" on one fold.  Please handle carefully when you receive it!
