    1912 GOLDFIELD NEVADA HOTEL COLUMBIA ST & MOUNTAIN GOLD MINE TOWN POSTCARD-ORIGINAL
    HISTORY:
    GOLD WAS DISCOVERED IN 1900. TOWN GREW TO LARGEST IN NEVADA. MAJOR FLOOD IN 1913 CAUSED MAJOR DAMAGE. TOWN WAS DOOMED TO  GHOST  TOWN STATUS AFTER 1923 FIRE THAT DESTROYED MUCH OF IT. GOLDFIELD HOTEL STILL STANDS, A MAJOR HAUNTED HOUSE ATTRACTION. SEVERAL 100 PEOPLE STILL RESIDE IN GOLDFIELD.
