Description
Up for sale are 2 vintage desk diaries/appointment books. Please see photos.1)
1946 Year Book.
Roy J. McMaster, General Insurance, Clinton Street, Homer NY is printed near the bottom of the front cover. The word Telephone also appears but the number is partially worn off. It has a brown leather cover and is spiral bound. It is in good to very good vintage condition with only 1 page that has writing on it (the very first one).
2)
1963 Desk Diary
. Nixon Insurance Agency, "Over a Century of Service", 12 S. Main St. Homer, New York, Telephone PIoneer 9-2616 is printed at the bottom of the front cover. There are 2 days per page and the numbers 9 through 5 are printed on the left side of each day. The last few pages of the book contain a page labeled "Record of Insurance Policies", "Glossary of Insurance Terms". The next couple pages have multiple topics: Capitals of the United States, Standard Time Differences - Foreign Cities - Bell time on shipboard - Interest Calculations - Amount of one dollar at Compound Interest - Years in which a given amount will double at interest - How to Figure Profit. The last page is a blank directory and a 1963 whole year calendar.
The 1963 book is similar to the 1946 one, I guess they called them Year Books in the 40s and changed it to Desk Diary in the 60s. It could also be called an appointment book especially with the 9 to 5 designation along the side it tends to imply "typical work day hours." The 1946 one does not have the extra information pages described above.
Condition Issues:
The 1946 Year Book has pencil notations on the first page. All other pages clean. Both have some wear to covers. Both have tight spines, no rips or tears. 1963 book is unused. Please see photos.
