Description
I RECENTLY PURCHASED THIS AT AN ANTIQUES MARKET IN CONNECTICUT.THE SELLER THAT I PURCHASED THIS FROM HAD A COLLECTION OF MANY RELICS THAT ONCE BELONGED TO GEORGE "DOC" GUNTHER, WHO WAS THE LONGEST SERVING STATE LEGISLATOR IN CONNECTICUT HISTORY (21st CONNECTICUT SENATE DISTRICT....SERVED FROM 1966 TO 2006). UNFORTUNATELY, GUNTHER PASSED AWAY IN 2012.
DOC GUNTHER BECAME WELL KNOWN AS AN ENVIRONMENTALIST AND CONSERVATIONIST. THIS AWARD WAS PRESENTED TO HIM DURING HIS FIRST YEAR AS A SENATOR (1966) BY THE CONNECTICUT STATE LEAGUES OF SPORTSMEN'S AND CONSERVATION CLUBS, IN COOPERATION WITH THE NATIONAL WILDLIFE FEDERATION (NWF) AND THE SEARS ROEBUCK FOUNDATION. IT REALLY IS A UNIQUE PIECE AND RARE FIND. NOTE: I ALSO HAVE A FEW OTHER DOC GUNTHER ITEMS/AWARDS/PRESENTATIONS, SO IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN ANY OTHERS, PLEASE LET ME KNOW AND WE CAN WORK OUT A GOOD PRICE. I WILL BE LISTING EACH PIECE INDIVIDUALLY ON EBAY.
THIS TROPHY MEASURES APPROXIMATELY 9 INCHES WIDE BY 8 INCHES TALL. THE BASE IS MADE OF WOOD. IT SEEMS TO BE IN GOOD CONDITION OVERALL, CONSIDERING ITS AGE. NOTE: TEH ONLY AREA OF DAMAGE THAT I SEE IS SOME FRAGMENTS OF 2 FINS ARE BROKEN OFF.
THANK YOU FOR LOOKING! I WOULD LOVE FOR THIS TO GO TO A GOOD HOME
THANK YOU FOR LOOKING AND PLEASE CHECK OUT MY EBAY STORE WITH OVER 600 COLLECTIBLE ITEMS.
