    his magnificent antique French sterling silver tea and coffee service includes a coffee pot, a tea pot, a cream pitcher and a sugar bowl, all in the
    Empire
    style. The handles of the coffee pot, tea pot and cream pitcher are wooden and attached with a stylish silver disk engraved with concentric circles. The interior of the sugar bowl and of the cream pitcher are vermeil or gold washed, the spouts of the coffee pot and of the teapot are in the form of a swan’s head and the finials on the lids are elegantly shaped in the form of a seedpod. The feet stand on lion’s claws and are attached to the bodies with a motif of palm fronds, leaves and lion's heads. The edges of the lids and the mid-part of the bodies are embellished with borders of stylized lotus leaves or “

    ”. Each piece is engraved with a shield surrounded by two laurel branches and displaying an eagle standing on a globe with a laurel branch in its beak. The lids, the feet and the bodies bear the French “
