Description
This is a tom drum. . . the maker’s mark sticker/plaque is missing so I don’t know who made it, where it was made, or when. There’s a 3” x 1 1/4” horizontal rectangular area where there’s still some glue residue, see the last photo close-up, where the maker’s mark used to be. To be candid, I know pretty-much nothing substantial about drums as a subject. I got this drum in a mixed lot with other unrelated stuff, but have no use for it and I’m tired of it taking up space.Although I did attempt to do some research on this drum a few years ago, I can’t find the information anymore (it wasn’t conclusive anyway) and I just don’t want to put the effort into doing it all over again. From what I do recall, it looked like this drum was very similar to some 1960’s or 70’s vintage drums (mostly based on the lug* shapes). However, the fact that the maker’s mark was glued on could be a big clue that this probably isn’t vintage. I’m assuming genuine high-end vintage drums have their maker’s mark riveted on, so this is probably a newer knock-off based on a vintage style. If you recognize the drum brand/model/type for sure, please let me know and I’ll update the listing [up until there are bids, then all listing text is locked by eBay]. Any questions, please ask and I’ll try to answer, you may need to guide me a bit though.
*I did Google drum terminology.
Currently has a Remo batter head and a Pearl resonant head.
Dimensions: based on some on-line instructions for “how to measure a drum” the inner diameter of the shell is 12 inches (excludes hoops). Height (estimating the exclusion of the hoop portion above the shell, since I don’t want to take them off): 11 inches.
Weight: 7.56 lbs (7lb 8.96oz). That’s just the drum, not the packed/shipping weight.
Color: black.
Condition: I don’t see any cracks in the shell. There’s obviously various wear, see photos.
Sound: good, I think, but what do I know?
