Description
This catalog was offered by Niepold's of Washington DC featuring their Borghese products. Borghese was made by Niepold's and distributed to dealers throughout the United States between 1940-1970.There are 48 pages in the catalog. Each item shows a black & white picture, the catalog number, a short description, sizes and price. The first page shows a picture of the Borghese Factory in Washington DC.The book is in fairly good condition for its age. The cover has a few small marks, the center page is not attached. I found a few ink & pencil marks on a couple of pages.
This interesting catalog is the perfect companion for the Borghese collector.
Please view all of the pictures for a close-up look at the issues I mentioned above. Thank you!
In the early 1900’s, Frank Niepold started a family business which continued to 1970. Many identify these pieces as Italian made, but they were actually made in Gaithersburg, Maryland, just outside of Washington, DC. They began by taking early designs and art objects of the Italian Renaissance period and reproducing them for household use and ornamentation. The early quality products are quite rare, but framed pieces such as these can still be found and have a distinctive look. Their production began with a request for bookends and evolved as they began reproducing a variety of decorative pieces.
