Here is a spacious example of a bungalow, from Idaho, with a wide front porch, a wing extending back and several rooms in the attic. It is wide open and spreads across its site in expansive comfort.
The original drawings were beautifully delineated in 1979. This extensive set of 4 drawing sheets includes a first floor plan, attic plan, roof plan and elevation. The original drawings rest in the Library of Congress.
As a work of art these prints are worth purchasing in their own right. For those of you interested in building a historically inspired house, these plans offer an excellent starting point. The basic shell could be configured many different ways inside. The current plan has a Living Room, Dining Room and Kitchen running the length of one side of the house, with several bedrooms and a bathroom running the other length. In addition there are bedrooms in the attic. This plan is ideal for a flat site. This house would be comfortable in a town, suburb or country setting. Including porches, this house has outside dimensions of approximately 47’x81’.
