English sterling silver kettle on stand decorated with an armorial crest, relief designs and an important presentation on the underside of the lid. It has London hallmarks including the makers mark for William Gibson & Langman. It was presented by
Lily Spencer-Churchill, Duchess of Marlborough and her husband Lord William Berese,
Lieutenant-Colonel of the British army to Colonel Stewart Mackenzie whom was a boon companion to Lord William Berese in the beginning of his army career. Lord William Berese went on to become the recipient of the Victoria Cross,
the highest and most prestigious award for gallantry in the face of the enemy that can be awarded to British and Commonwealth forces.
Age -
It has the date letter for 1897 and was presented to Colonel Stewart Mackenzie in July of 1899.
Size -
Approximately 13 + 7/8 inches to the top of the handle by 9 + 7/8 inches wide from the tip of the spout to the back of the body and 6 + 1/4 inches wide. It weighs approximately 61.02 troy ounces.
Condition -
