    Description

Plaque celebrating Goodyear Blimp Airship Operations featuring a raised, 3-D depiction of a GZ-20 type blimp along with technical specifications and statistics. Guessing this was produced for important company executives, business liaisons and the occasional passenger who would ordinarily receive a paper certificate to commemorate his or her fortunate, by invitation only, flight Tail surface identifies this blimp as N3A, which flew as the Columbia in original silver livery with name in black and fins in red, white and blue between 1969 and 1975 based in Carson, California near Los Angeles. Today, the faithful blimps are retired with NT Zeppelins having assumed the service. Plaque measures 9 3/4 x 12 5/8 inches at the base. The center section featuring the airship measures 6 5/8 x 9 5/8 inches. The plaque gives the appearance of metal affixed to a wooden base, though the whole is made of a very high quality hard, lightweight plastic/resin that reproduces the blimp in crisp detail and the base reproduces wood grain with depth. Bears a copyright by Thomas G. Matus dated 1974. Thank you for looking at this and my other auctions.
