The Lubavitcher Rebbe encouraged the practice of distributing Hanukkah fees and for many years distributed Hanukkah fees to the audience who came to visit him and to the students of the Central Innocent Yeshiva. In addition, during the Yom Kippur War, he ordered a Hanukkah allowance to be distributed to IDF soldiers, and from 1951, he ordered a Hanukkah allowance to be distributed in his name at gatherings of God's soldiers. Usually 2-3 coins were distributed so that at least one of them would be used for giving to charity. And the rest will be blessed for maintenance and livelihood.
