Sterling Silver REPOUSSE lidded oval entree dish decorated with beautiful hand chased repousse floral design on lid and lower body, c. 1894-1908

arked on the base with the trademark stamp of Jacobi & Jenkins and "Jacobi & Jenkins, Makers, Baltimore, Sterling 925/1000 Fine". The base is also engraved "F L B, Apr 1903". This trademark stamp was first used by Jacobi & Jenkins (1895-1908) and later by Jenkins & Jenkins (1908-1915). The repousse technique was extremely popular in the mid-19th Century by silversmiths working in the city of Baltimore, Maryland.
Base measures 1 3/4" high, 8" long and 5 3/4" wide. Measures 3 1/2" high to top of lid and 4 3/4" high (as shown).  Weighs 490 grams.
The repousse decorated cover and sides of this beautiful entree dish and the embossed upper rim of the dish are in excellent condition, however, the base has several minor dents and dings from normal wear. These will not be seen when the cover is in place or the dish is being used, however, they do cause the dish to not sit flat on a table. These minor flaws are not distracting and I'm sure this can be easily remedied by a jeweler.
