Large Vintage Jade Snuff Bottle with Animal Mask

Description

The large snuff bottle has a flattened oblong shape tapering slightly towards the base and ending in a slightly raised oval foot. On either side is an abreviated stylized animal mask with a ring.  The carving is simple and not in good detail.  The attractive quality of this bottle is the size and the jade material.  It is mostly pale celadon but there is a patch of rich brown fading into an amber color with mottling of white, sometimes described as winter melon flesh.  the short neck has a wide mouth opening, half an inch in diameter.  t is fitted with an orange agate top over a black disc and a custom fitted cork stopper .
The handling and wide mouth indicate it is an older bottle, probably 1920's to 1930's.
