Loaded Esquire (Telecaster) Type BodyThis is an older body (1987; don't know the manufacturer) that is routed for two pickups, but is setup as an Esquire. This is a full 1.53" thick Tele-type body, and not the thinner Esquire type. It has the 50s-type shape, and even has the router's hump. It was pro-assembled, with copper shielding through-out, top-quality potentiometers, orange-drop capacitors, Electrosocket jack, nice pickguard, and a quality switch. The bridge pickup is a Seymour Duncan Broadcaster, and the bridge plate contains brass compensated saddles. The body has a worn nitro finish and it has the typical dents and dings. With a neck attached, this makes a guitar that weighs in at right at 7 pounds.
This body makes a great sounding instrument (full, rich tone), not thin or shrill.
Esquire control settings:
Position #1.
This corresponds to the solo bridge-pickup position on a Tele. On the Esquire, however, the pickup is routed through the volume control only, with the tone control bypassed for a hotter and louder lead sound with even more high-end.
Position #2.
In this middle setting, the Esquire's pickup is routed through the volume and tone control—identical to position #1 on a standard Telecaster. It sounds a bit warmer compared to the Esquire's #1 position.
Position #3.
Here, the tone control is again bypassed and the Esquire's pickup is routed through the volume control and a fixed “treble roll-off " capacitor/resistor network for a very dark tone that also has a slightly decreased output. Leo intended this as a “bass preset" that would allow the '50s guitar player to enter bass territory by simply flipping the 3-way switch.
