Description
Offered is an estate fresh exquisite Louis XVI style 4 piece heavy European vermeil (gilded sterling silver) tea & coffee service, circa 1900-1920. The set features beautiful cast decoration with beautifully hand carved handles in rare precious material. Finely detailed and heavy weight, this slightly diminutive and sumptuous service exudes quality. Consistent mellow slightly faded gilded finish throughout for a soft, sumptuous, aristocratic ancestral look. The quality of the workmanship is on par with some of the best European silver makers around.The service comprises: a tea pot, coffee pot, cream pitcher, and covered sugar pot with handles.
All 4 pieces are made of solid .925 sterling silver, with a gold finish. They are all stamped on the undersides with the European hallmarks depicted. Teapot liquid capacity, holds about 6 cups of tea.
Condition: All pieces have clean interiors and secure handles.Some surface scratches/ patina/ tarnish and wear to gilded finish as well as veins/crazing to the handles commensurate with age and use. Coffee pot: 8.25” tall x 4.25” diameter x 6”handle to spout.
