CONDITION
___________
THIS IS AN EXTREMELY RARE 1964 OBP FLOOR TOM WITH ALL THE CORRECT POINTS FOR RINGO'S #3 KIT ~ NOTE THAT THE BADGE IS CENTERED RATHER THAN BEING DRILLED IN THE UPPER 3rd OF THE TOM. TOM HAS BEEN FULLY DETAILED AND IS IN STELLAR COLLECTOR CONDITION. SOUNDING FANTASTIC ON TOP OF THAT IS SIMPLY ICING ON THE CAKE.
Original red muffler. Original Ludwig hoops : bottom is COS (steel), top is COB (brass) ~ both showing modest signs of wear.
Both having been
cleaned & polished with SIMICHROME along with hardware ~ all in VERY GOOD to VERY GOOD+ condition with some light pitting, etc.
Wrap is in excellent condition with very light darkening and with a few light nicks & scratches remaining after being
polished with NOVUS 1 & 2. The wrap is extremely smooth
.
Bearing edges are clean & the drum is in the round. THE WRAP FOLLOWS THE SEAM INTO THE SCARF JOINT.
New EVANS J1 ETCHED heads.
WHAT DOES SHOWROOM CONDITION MEAN?
IT MEANS, ACCORDING TO MY CONSISTENT GRADING OF VINTAGE DRUMS, AND CONSISTENT GRADING AFTER DETAILING VINTAGE DRUMS, THAT IT IS AS CLOSE TO NEW, OFF-THE-SHOWROOM FLOOR CONDITION THAT YOU WILL EVER FIND. THERE ARE SLIGHT FLAWS THAT COULD NOT BE BUFFED OUT : THERE ARE A FEW NICKS AND SCRATCHES THAT YOU WILL BE ABLE TO FEEL AND POSSIBLY SEE AT CLOSE INSPECTION.
IT IS NOT SAFE TO POLISH THE WRAP TO THE EXTENT THAT DEEPER NICKS/SCRATCHES ARE REMOVED. YOU ARE NOT MEANT TO SIT WITH A BUFFING TOOL AND APPLY THE NOVUS POLISH UNTIL SAID NICK/SCRATCH IS REMOVED (you can do so but it is easy to see and only makes matters worse; the whole point of polishing with Novus is to make it
NOT
look like it was (overly) polished); IN OTHER WORDS, NOVUS WILL REMOVE SURFACE SCRATCHES AND NICKS BUT NOT THOSE THAT GO DEEPER INTO THE WRAP ... AND THAT "DEEPER" NICK/SCRATCH CAN LITERALLY NOT BE THAT BAD. SO, THIS SNARE HAD VERY FEW TO BEGIN WITH; BUT OF THOSE FEW A VERY FEW REMAIN.
THIS IS NOT THE 1st 1960's OYSTER BLACK PEARL JAZZ FESTIVAL THAT I'VE FULLY DETAILED. THE LAST ONE WAS EQUALLY AS STELLAR AND IS NOW IN THE COLLECTION OF ITS NEW OWNER. I TAKE THIS SORT OF DETAILING VERY SERIOUSLY.
