Description

Rarely seen (so if another unscrupulous ebay seller coincidentally starts listing copies, you'll know where he found the wellspring) 5 5/8 x 8 9/16 inch photo on Agfa paper illustrating the vast size of the LZ 130 Graf Zeppelin being taken from the operating hangar at Friedrichahfen-Lowenthal in 1938. The photographer captured a unique perspective of the engine gondolas, redesigned from those of Hindenburg to accommodate water recovery capability for expected flights with helium, which was never forthcoming due to political intrigues in Washington and Berlin. Crew engineer on the catwalk between the airship's hull and the forward engine emphasizes the scale, as does the size of the forward engine in relation to the one to which the photographer was adjacent. Bears Luftschiffbau Zeppelin rights stamp on the reverse with handwritten subject notation. Printed on glossy finish paper. Bears wear commensurate with its age though overall great condition.
Thanks for looking at this and my other auctions.
