Tower Grove Gatehouse - 1870
This is a rare and outstanding example of Victorian Gothic design applied to the small home. In appearance an imposing castle, but in reality a spacies 2 bedroom home, this ingenious Victorian Gothic home plan delights the eye.
As a work of art these prints are worth purchasing in their own right. For those of you interested in building a historically inspired house, these plans offer an excellent starting point. At the ground level a large, open porch surrounded by arches leads to the entry, which is directly into the main social space of the house. Beyond this is a room that would serve well as a kitchen and could be extended to include dining. At the end is a bedroom suite. Stairs off the main space lead to a single room on the second floor. With the addition of a bath this could serve as another bedroom suite. This imaginative miniature Gothic castle plan could be built equally well in the suburb or countryside. The home has outside dimensions of approximately 27' x 77'.
