description
Absolutely unique 5-piece tea set in a wicker design in silver in Japonism from Art Nouveau, made in the 1880s / 90s. The containers, with the exception of the tea caddy made later, also carry a monogrammed cartridge.
Art Nouveau has its oldest roots in England. Here, Japanese art was picked up particularly early as a completely new treasure trove of forms. Especially the designs by Christopher Dresser, primarily his objects in silver and other metals, anticipated much of the functionalism of Art Deco of the 1920s as early as the 1870s.
All parts of the service are marked and numbered, manufactured by Koch & Bergfeld 1887/88. The numbering is barely visible on the tray. The tea caddy was made in 1892 and is gilded on the inside. Distributed by Lazarus Posen. Design attr .: Christopher Dresser. Condition very good, age-appropriate patina! Museum-like and absolutely worth collecting!
