    Description

    Israel ~ 10 Seasons Greetings Medals ~ IGCMC ~ 1967-1980
    Very SCARCE! ~ Brilliant Uncirculated
    Israel ~ 10 Seasons Greetings Medals ~ 1967-1980.
Upon the occasion of the New Year in 1964, the Israel Government Coins and Medals Company (IGCMC) sent to each of its subscribers an encased one-Agora coin. This "Seasons Greetings" item was the first of a series which has continued annually since. In 1965, the corporation issued a plastic bookmark. Then in 1966, the corporation issued a 30 mm nickel-silver medal (changed to cupro-nickel in 1968) which has continued each year since. The motif of the face of the medal is changed annually, but the reverse remains the same except for a change of date. In this lot of 10 brilliant uncirculated medals, you will receive medals for 1967 and all years from 1972 to 1980. The 1967 medal is nickel-silver and has a milled edge; all later medals are cupro-nickel and have smooth edges.
    Seasons Greetings medals are
    limited in quantity
to the number of IGCMC subscribers and are not available after the their annual distribution by the corporation. As a result the earlier medals have become quite scarce as new subscribers come into the fold and want to acquire a complete set. The most recent eBay sale of a 1967 medal was + shipping. Mintage of this medal was only a tiny 7,300.
