    PERFECT GIFT!
This 50th anniversary collection includes coins from Palestine, Israel, Egypt, Jordan, and Syria, all related to the Six-Day War.
In 1948, six Arab armies attacked the newly-minted nation of Israel.
Their mission: total eradication. This offensive failed spectacularly, but the Arab attitude towards the Jewish state remained unchanged.
Anti-Israel sentiment reached a fever pitch in June of 1967, when the neighboring states of Egypt, Syria, and Jordan mobilized for war. Egypt’s subsequent blockade of the Israeli port of Eilat was a
    casus belli
under international law. Rather than wait for the inevitable attack, Israel decided to draw first blood. Caught by surprise, the Egyptians lost nearly their entire air force in a matter of hours, and suffered crippling defeats on the ground as well.
Despite fighting on three fronts, Israel won a resounding and decisive victory. Far from wiping the Jewish state from the map, the humiliated Arab nations lost territory to Israeli occupation. In less than a week, June 5—10, Israel took Sinai and the Gaza Strip from the Egyptians; all of Jerusalem and the West Bank from Jordan; and the Golan Heights from Syria. The effects of the Six-Day War are felt in the region to this day.
