  • Condition: Excellent rare Slingerland Haskell Harr Parade Tenor Drum Model 660F. 15" x 12", made in 1961 at the Niles factory. Original chrome-plated hardware in absurdly nice shape. Original White Marine Pearl wrap in excellent shape with only very light yellowing. Shell is round and takes modern heads easily. Excellent bearing edges. A super-solid premium drum. This drum makes an outstanding low tom for a jazz kit or other - sounds very similar to a 14" x 14" floor tom. Great tone.

    Up for sale is this super-nice vintage Slingerland Haskell W. Harr Parade Tenor Drum.  The size is 15" x 12" with 3-Ply Mahogany / Poplar / Mahogany shell.  Model 660F according to the catalog.  White Marine Pearl with original chrome-plated hardware.  This one was made in October 1961 by the date stamp.  Two holes for a leg rest that was likely from the factory.
    This tom is completely functional, ready to play, and sounds fantastic.
    Works great with a suspension mount.
    The general condition is outstanding, especially given its nearly 60 year age.  This shell is The Shell is 3-Ply Mahogany / Poplar / Mahogany with Maple re-rings.  Nice and round and accepts modern heads with ease.  Beautiful interior aside from the powdery oxidation on the lug machine screws.
    The bearing edges are excellent with no re-ring gaps to mention.  Typical cracks in the middle Poplar ply - less then usually seen on drums of the era.
    The White Marine Pearl wrap is original and in great condition with only very light yellowing and no crazing.  There are some light scratches, scrapes, and little dings from use back in the day - nothing bad.  The seam is tight and ideal.   You rarely see WMP this old look so good.
    THE PARTS:
    Everything is clean and in absurdly nice condition for the age.
    Took tremendous will-power to not keep them for my other drums...

    Both hoops are the original heavy Chrome Over Brass (COB) and are EXC+.  Some minor blemishes here and there, but generally, WOW!
    The Lugs are original to this drum.  Chrome-plated and ridiculously nice shape with only very light wear.  In 30 years of drums, I have never seen lugs this nice on a drum this age.  I left the light oxidation on the inside as proof that they are the real deal.  Perfect donor set for a deep-shelled Radio King or high-end Slingy floor tom.
    The Muffler is the original Dodd Dual-Pad in very nice functional shape.  The knob is from a few years earlier or a couple of years later - not sure which.  It looks nickel in the photos, but I'm pretty certain it's chrome.
    The Tension Rods and washers are and are excellent.
    The top head is a lightly-used Aquarian Texture Coated Performance II USA that is just starting to get broken in.
    The bottom head is a Remo Emperor Clear.  Older barely-used dual-ply hydraulic with some little stick marks from tuning.  Years of life left in this one.
