A timeless Southwestern style home by Lillian Rice
You are purchasing large format architectural prints, 2 sheets, each measuring 24"x36".
The Southwestern style, which reached its heyday in the 1920s, was an eclectic mix of styles and sources, from Native American pueblo, to Mexican Mission, to Spanish Renaissance. Even elements of New England Colonial worked their way into the mix through the influence of schools and outposts built by the Federal government.
When Rancho Santa Fe, in San Diego County began to grow, Lillian Jenette Rice was commissioned to provide a series of designs for small, single story homes in the Southwestern style. Her skillful work incorporated graceful exterior details with floor plans centered around sheltered courtyards and patios, an arrangement ideal for the climate of the southwest. Her homes are as livable today as when they were first built in the 1920s. Her floor plans require almost no alteration to be brought into line with current expectations.
In all I am able to offer to you
6 different designs by Ms. Rice
. This model is called the Moore Residence, after its first occupants. Please visit the
    Southwestern Style
section of my eBay store to see additional designs in this set.
The prints you are purchasing are crisp, high resolution black line copies on white bond paper. The original drawings were beautifully delineated in 1991. This set of 2 drawing sheets includes a floor plan that also shows the site, the front elevation, a section and several details. The original drawings rest in the Library of Congress.
As a work of art these prints are worth purchasing in their own right. For those of you interested in building a historically inspired house, these plans offer an excellent starting point. This design offers charming entry sequence, first through a gate in the outer wall, into a porch with arched views into the front patio, then from there into the Living Room. The fireplace in the Living Room is opposite large windows opening onto the front patio. Two bedrooms and a bath overlook the back garden. Although ideal for a flat site, these plans would also work on a low sloping one. Excluding the separate office and bath at the back, the main house has outside dimensions of approximately 35’x44’.
Please visit my other auctions for many other drawings I am offering. I have house plans in wide variety of styles including Colonial, Craftsman, and Prairie, as well as plans of architects such as Frank Lloyd Wright, Irving Gill, Purcell & Elmslie and others.

SHIPPING: Your drawings are shipped to you, rolled, not folded, in a Priority Mail tube.
IF YOU ARE PLANNING TO BUILD: These plans are not complete architectural drawings as might be required by your local permitting agency and do not contain all the structural, waterproofing and other details and information necessary for construction. But your local builder or architect should be able to adapt these drawings and add to them as necessary. What they do provide is accurate design information about a REAL Southwestern style house, not a pseudo-southwestern tract house as you will find in the house plan magazines on your supermarket shelf.
INTERNATIONAL BUYERS PLEASE NOTE: Orders shipped to addresses outside the USA may be subject to customs duties at their destination. The buyer is responsible for any such duties.
