Spacious Southwestern Style Residence - 1941
This is a plan for one of the officers' houses at the MacDill Air Force Base, in Florida. Several minor variations of this plan were built and the cover sheet shows a few. The second sheet gives the ground floor plan of one variation and also shows 2 elevations. There is no upper floor plan in this drawing set but an arrangement of 3-4 bedrooms could easily be made to fit in the available space.
The Southwestern style, which reached its heyday in the 1920s, was an eclectic mix of styles and sources, from Native American pueblo, to Mexican Mission, to Spanish Renaissance. Even elements of New England Colonial worked their way into the mix through the influence of schools and outposts built by the Federal government.
The prints you are purchasing are crisp, high resolution black line copies on white bond paper. The original drawings were beautifully delineated in 1989. The original drawings rest in the Library of Congress.
As a work of art these prints are worth purchasing in their own right. For those of you interested in building a historically inspired house, these plans offer an excellent starting point. Although ideal for a flat site, these plans would also work on a low sloping one. The house has outside dimensions of approximately 51’ x 97’.
Please visit my other auctions for many other drawings I am offering. I have house plans in wide variety of styles including Colonial, Craftsman, and Prairie, as well as plans of architects such as Frank Lloyd Wright, Irving Gill, Purcell & Elmslie and others.

SHIPPING: Your drawings are shipped to you, by US Postal Service, rolled, not folded, in a Priority Mail tube.
IF YOU ARE PLANNING TO BUILD: These plans are not complete architectural drawings as might be required by your local permitting agency and do not contain all the structural, waterproofing and other details and information necessary for construction. But your local builder or architect should be able to adapt these drawings and add to them as necessary. What they do provide is accurate design information about a REAL Southwestern style house, not a pseudo-southwestern tract house as you will find in the house plan magazines on your supermarket shelf.
INTERNATIONAL BUYERS PLEASE NOTE: Orders shipped to addresses outside the USA may be subject to customs duties at their destination. The buyer is responsible for any such duties.
