Andalusia, "The Cottage", 1839 and later
This lovely Victorian Gothic home is on the property of the great Bucks County, PA estate of Andalusia. It has exquisite Gothic detailing on the exterior while the interior has a more restrained Greek Revival feel. The wide front porch, extending the entire width of the front elevation, sets the tone of graciousness and hospitality. With 5 bedrooms on the upper floor and a ground floor bedroom easily accommodated as well, this house has room for a large family. Want to start your own Bed & Breakfast? This place has all you need.
The house had several additions, over time. Consequently, the plan is such that it would be very easy to adapt it to a smaller home, by simply removing some of the additions.

It is believed the architect is Thomas Walter, responsible for designing the main house on the Andalusia estate. Walter was the architect of the Capitol dome in Washington DC.

The plan is ideally suited for a flat or moderately sloping site. This house would be comfortable in a suburban or country setting. The prints you are purchasing are crisp, high resolution black line copies on white bond paper. The original drawings were beautifully delineated in 1974, by the Historic American Building Survey.
