STERLING GEORGIAN TEAPOT Bulbous Body Wood Handle/Finial Gadrooned Lip/Base 1810

Description

Up for sale is beautiful sterling silver English Georgian teapot (tea pot) in a bulbous shape with pronounced gadrooning along the top and bottom sections, flared spout, flush hinge, and a smartly shaped wooden handle and oval egg shaped finial. Notice the inverted fan shaped decorative decal to the front of the handle. There is an amoral signifying the original owner on the front. It is almost totally worn off and less pronounced than photo indicates. There is a pin sized dimple at this point.
Fully hallmarked on the bottom and on the inside of the lid, this charming and distinguished tea server, rather unusual in shape, was made by
John Edwards III
,** who worked in London in the late 18th and early to mid 19th centuries. His work is considered of "high standard of design and execution" and was typically commissioned by the British aristocratic class.
