Description
Stylish 1912 English Sterling Silver Coffee Tea Mocha PotPresented is a fantastic antique English sterling silver tea or coffee pot. This
piece was made by Martin Hall & Co and dates to 1912. The pot is made in a
lovely round-bodied balustroid form, with a scroll form handle and finial
beautifully carved from rich espresso-black wood. The pot has a ring form foot
and a bold band of gadroon decoration around the mouth. Capacity of about 2 ½
cups (20 fluid ounces/591 milliliters).
This piece is hallmarked with the lion passant for sterling silver, the crown
for the city of Sheffield, the date letter U for 1912, and the maker's mark for
Martin Hall & Co. The inside of the lid is also hallmarked with the lion
passant and the maker's mark. Even the nut that secures the finial of the lid
has a lion passant mark.
This piece is in great overall condition. There is a small ding to the body
just visible in the first photo, and a couple of smaller pinprick dings here and
there elsewhere, which are very hard to notice. There are no splits, no dents,
no leaks, no monograms, no monogram removals, and no repairs.
This pot stands about 7 5/8 inches tall and measures about 6 3/8 inches from
spout to handle, or about 3 1/4 inches wide.
This piece weighs 417 grams or 14.7 regular ounces.
