Persian sterling silver coffee set. Made by Tiffany & Co. in New York, ca 1910. This set comprises coffeepot, creamer, and sugar on tray.
Coffeepot: Bellied bowl with irregular conical neck with scalloped rim, hinged and domed cover, scrolled handle, vertical scroll spout, and spread foot. Creamer: Oval tapering body, scalloped helmet mouth, high-looping handle, and spread foot. Sugar: Round tapering body with scalloped rim, inset domed cover, and c-scroll side handles threaded through pierced and scrolled upper mounts with vasiform finials. Tray: Oval with reeded rim interspersed with applied and pierced scrollwork. All pieces engraved with stylistically-integrated interlaced monogram.
Acid-etched moresque ornament with scrollwork and stylized vegetation. A distillation of exotic motifs by Edward C. Moore, whose connoisseurship included Near Eastern art. The pattern was originally designed for flatware. It was in production from 1872 to the early 20th century.
Fully marked including maker's stamp, pattern no. 9922, order no. 3653, and director's letter m (1907-47).
