This simple and practical home is a perfect example of American Craftsman design. A broad gable supported by 4 stout columns shelters an expansive porch. The internal layout is practical and flexible. The plans show 2 good sized bedrooms, with a study off of one of them. The kitchen is large enough to accommodate a breakfast area. Fireplaces anchor the main spaces.

As a work of art these prints are worth purchasing in their own right. For those of you interested in building a historically inspired house, these plans offer an excellent starting point. This house would be comfortable in a suburban or country setting, on a flat or low sloping site. It measures approximately 43' x 59'.

IF YOU ARE PLANNING TO BUILD:
These plans are not complete architectural drawings as might be required by your local permitting agency and do not contain all the structural, waterproofing and other details and information necessary for construction. But your local builder or architect should be able to adapt these drawings and add to them as necessary. What they do provide is accurate design information about a REAL historic house, not a pseudo-historic tract house as you will find in the house plan magazines on your supermarket shelf
The original drawings from which these dimensionally accurate scans were made are kept at the Historic American Building Survey, in the Library of Congress.
