Shingle Style Home, compact floor plan - 1892
The Norris house represents an excellent example of the adaptation of the Shingle Style to a narrow city lot. The front porch and dormers graciously address the street while keeping the roofline low and the proportions comfortable.
The prints you are purchasing are crisp, high resolution black line copies on white bond paper. The original drawings were beautifully delineated in 1993. This extensive set of 8 drawing sheets includes a site plan, 3 floor plans, 5 elevations, and a large porch detail. The original drawings rest in the Library of Congress.
As a work of art these prints are worth purchasing in their own right. For those of you interested in building a historically inspired house, these plans offer an excellent starting point. The main level consists of a Living Room opening onto the front porch, a Dining Room, and at the back a kitchen and family room. The attic contains 3 bedrooms and a bath. There is also a full basement. This house is built on a flat site. This house would be comfortable in a suburb or country setting. Including porches, the main house has outside dimensions of approximately 25’x50’.
Please visit my other auctions for many other drawings I am offering. I have house plans in wide variety of styles including Colonial, Craftsman, and Prairie, as well as plans of architects such as Frank Lloyd Wright, Irving Gill, Purcell & Elmslie and others.

If you have any questions about these drawings or others that I am offering, please contact me. I will do my utmost to answer your questions.
IF YOU ARE PLANNING TO BUILD: These plans are not complete architectural drawings as might be required by your local permitting agency and do not contain all the structural, waterproofing and other details and information necessary for construction. But your local builder or architect should be able to adapt these drawings and add to them as necessary. What they do provide is accurate design information about a REAL Shingle style house, not a pseudo-Shingle tract house as you will find in the house plan magazines on your supermarket shelf.
INTERNATIONAL BUYERS PLEASE NOTE: Orders shipped to addresses outside the USA may be subject to customs duties at their destination. The buyer is responsible for any such duties.
