Vintage Rare MCM Plastic Swirl Fish by Century Plastic NY. Coin Bank?

Vintage Rare MCM mid century modern Plastic Swirl Fish by Century Plastic NY. Coin Bank? He doesn't look like a coin bank but there is a slim slit at the top. These are hard to find, I have had him in my collection for years. He is stamped Century Plastic NY and Pat Pend.  His base is separated slightly , easy fix with some glue. He stands about 3 & 3/4 inches tall.
