Perched on a rise overlooking the James River, the Jefferies-Bruce house exemplifies the fine residences built for the businessmen and professionals of Scottsville, Virginia. Its classic Palladian proportions and orderly floor plan focused around a central hall give this house a unique grace and formality. The main reception rooms are built up over a high basement, raised to take full advantage of the surrounding views.
The prints you are purchasing are crisp, high resolution black line copies on white bond paper. The original drawings were beautifully delineated in 1990. This extensive set of 8 drawing sheets includes a site plan, 3 floor plans, 2 elevations, a section and Entry Door details. The original drawings rest in the Library of Congress.
As a work of art these prints are worth purchasing in their own right. For those of you interested in building a historically inspired house, these plans offer an excellent starting point. Built at a time when kitchen and bathrooms were in outbuildings, those elements would need to be incorporate. The main level, the second floor, offers plenty of room for an eat-in kitchen, as well as a Dining Room and large Living Room. The ground level offers plenty of room for 4 bedrooms and 1-2 baths. An additional bedroom/bath suite could be fit into the attic. Although ideal for a flat site, these plans would also work on a moderately sloping one. This house would be comfortable in a suburb or country setting. Including porches, the main house has outside dimensions of approximately 41’x32’.

Your drawings are shipped to you, rolled, not folded, in a Priority Mail tube. The pictures on eBay show typical sheets with borders. Each sheet has a similar border with title. If you have any questions about these drawings or others that I am offering, please contact me. I will do my utmost to answer your questions.

But your local builder or architect should be able to adapt these drawings and add to them as necessary. What they do provide is accurate design information about a REAL colonial style house, not a pseudo-colonial tract house as you will find in the house plan magazines on your supermarket shelf.
