    Title:
San Juan Islands & Olympic Peninsula. [FOUR BROCHURES: Salmon Bight Lodge; Rosemary Inn Lake Crescent; Kwan Lamah San Juan; Olympic Peninsula.]
    Publication:
    Various publishers. Circa 1940
    Description:
Four vintage tourist brochures, two from San Juan Islands resorts and two from Olympic Peninsula resorts. The brochures are roughly 6 1/2 x 4 1/2 inches each and unfold to a descriptive sheet pertaining to the resort or, in one instance, are comprised of stapled pages with extensive listings of resorts more widely dispersed. The "Kwan Lamah" San Juan Island brochure unfolds to a photo-illustrated two-sided sheet 11 3/4 x 10 inches featuring six text and photo panels on each side while the Salmon Bight Lodge on Orcas Island is comprised of photo-illustrated panels on a folded sheet that, when unfolded, measures 6 1/4 x 7 inches. The three-panel Rosemary Inn brochure unfolds to 6 1/2 x 10 1/2 inches with text on each side. The Olympic Peninsula brochure comprises 16 stapled pages featuring resort and hotel information in a wide-ranging area (with an attractive map dated 1940 comprising front and rear covers.) The four brochures provide an uncommon perspective on pre-World War II tourism in the San Juan Islands and on the Olympic Peninsula. Four items in as new condition.
